The Cut Out tells the story of three anarchists—Sasha,
Zhenya, and Artem—who were part of the “Food Not Bombs”
initiative in Minsk. They were imprisoned after the 2020
protests in Belarus.
The Belarusian and Russian governments continue to
persecute dissenters, using prison, fines, torture, and
other forms of repression. Despite this, people from over
10 countries and various communities united in practical
solidarity.
The film began as an artistic solidarity project where
participants took photos and videos of paper cutouts
representing the anarchists, placed in local landscapes.
Through interviews, viewers learn about the activists, their
struggles, and the political situation in Belarus.
The Cut Out is a powerful reminder of the risks activists
face in Belarus and a testament to solidarity, friendship, and
support.
